Kate Putnam - The Importance of the Community

Throughout her working life, Kate Putnam has always been immensely committed to the community in which she lives. It’s a firm belief of hers that the act of doing good towards another person is one of the most important things that a human being can aspire to, and she is glad to have maintained several charitable activities throughout the entirety of her career. Kate Putnam has always been driven to establish community relationships because she thinks that the best antidote to the separatism and individualism of modern life is the capacity to give to others, doing your best to improve their lives.

Some of Kate Putnam’s best community-orientated work has come out of her time spent as the Vice President of the NH Bike Collation, where she also worked extensively on the board of directors. This is a community focused institution which aims to get more people on bicycles instead of in cars, helping to foster healthy and environmentally friendly activity in American adults. Obesity is the number one killer of people in today’s society and by encouraging people to get active and take control of their health you actually save lives. Kate Putnam is a strong believer in the ability of exercize to help people beat their illnesses, and advocates travel by bike over short distances against that of cars. Too many Americans are chained to these vehicles and we have gotten out of touch with the locomotive abilities of our own bodies. What the NH Bike Collation does is encourage people to get on bikes by educating them as to what their rights are on the roads, and supporting them in their access towards bikes and cycling accessories. Through helping these people are individuals and getting them in contact with each other, the NH Bike Collation and Kate Putnam are hoping to build a bicycle culture in the Concord area that encourages everyone around to get active and get healthy. This is one of the most important things that Kate Putnam thinks that you can do for a local community: she always has the health and happiness of others at the forefront of her mind. Cycling is a fun and healthy way to resolve the health issues that come with being inactive and overweight and also minimizes the amount in which individuals use their cars, which provides extra bonuses for the community as a whole. Kate Putnam is rightfully proud of her experience working with this organization.
